Hotel Casa tra Noi Rome is one of the cheapest hotels in the historical center, located at just 4.5 km from Piazza Venezia, which owes its present appearance to the restructuring which took place between 1885 and 1911 in order to build the monument to Vittorio Emanuele II.
The name of the square comes from the building (Palazzo Venezia) erected in 1455 by Cardinal Pietro Barbo and expanded in 1467, used over the centuries as a luxury property: house of Popes, Embassy of the Republic of Venice, and after the fall of Napoleon which caused the passage of Venice to Austria, Habsburg property.
In 1560 the building was donated by Pope Pio IV to the Republic of Venice, which made the seat of their Embassy and since that moment it was called Palazzo Venezia, giving the name to the square.
It will be again Italian only after the First World War in 1916 and then became the seat of the fascist government and memorable for the speeches that the Duce held to the Italian people.
A separate discourse deserve the Vittoriano, designed by Giuseppe Sacconi in 1878, created to celebrate the achieved national unity and destined to become the altar of the State ceremonies.
In the 1921 the building was remodeled after the burial of the Unknown Soldier, an Italian soldier who died during the First World War whose the identity remains unknown.
From that time for all the monument will be erected in effigy and role of the Altar of the Fatherland.
The Vittoriano also hosts the Museum of the Risorgimento and an exhibition space in which exhibitions of international importance are held. Furthermore going up the Terrace of Quadrighe you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Rome, seeing the Eternal City from the sky.
