Hotel Casa Tra Noi Rome is one of the cheapest hotel in the historic center, at just 5 km from Piazza di Spagna, one of the most famous square in the world.
The square acquired its current appearance especially among the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with the characteristic shape 'butterfly wing', built by two triangles with a common vertex.
The monumental stairway of 135 steps decorated with many garden-terraces, which in spring and summer is beautifully decorated with many flowers, was inaugurated by Pope Benedict XIII on the occasion of the Jubilee of 1725.
It was built (thanks to the French funding from 1721 to 1725) to connect the Bourbon Spanish embassy (from which the square takes its name) to the church of Trinita dei Monti.
At the center of the square it is situated the Fountain of Barcaccia by Pietro Bernini, built in 1629 in memory of the flood of the river Tiber in 1598 and its form of semi-submerged boat was a ploy to mask the technical problem of low water pressure.
At the center of the south-east triangle of the square it stands the Column of the Immaculate Conception, which was found in 1777 in the monastery of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in the Campus Marzio and placed here in 1856, in commemoration of the dogma proclaimed by pope Pius IX. On the top of the column cipolin veined, it is placed the bronze statue of the Virgin.
